Why buy canned baked beans when you can turn your leftover soup beans into the most delicious baked beans ever? And why not go one step further and add your favorite hot dogs to those yummy baked beans to make beanie weenies? Do it! You won’t believe how easy it is! Read on to find out how to take your Old-Fashioned Ham and Beans to Baked Beans to Beanie Weenies in a snap. ๐Ÿ˜‹ P.S. Updated recipe!

Here’s how to make homemade beanie weenies:

First, make your Old Fashioned Ham & Beans and enjoy every bite! Then with all those delicious leftovers, simply pour them into a baking dish that leaves a good couple of inches of space to the top of the pan so it doesn’t bubble over while baking.

Two Three simple ingredients plus the cut up hot dogs are all you need. You could add more diced onions if you didn’t put any or enough in your ham and beans, but they’re totally unnecessary.

The amount of molasses, ketchup, and brown sugar all depends on how many leftover beans you’re working with. Let’s say you have 4 cups of beans. I would add approximately 1/3 cup molasses, 1/3 cup of brown sugar and a 1/3 cup of organic ketchup and stir well to fully incorporate into the beans. Give it a taste. It’s best to start with a little of each and add as needed to achieve the flavor you like best.

Add in your cut up hot dogs and press them down under the beans with the back of the spoon. Bake in the oven for about an hour at 350F. You’ll know it’s done when the liquid has reduced to a thick sauce and it’s all hot and bubbly.

Ham & Beans to Beanie Weenies

  • 4 cups leftover ham & soup beans (if too soupy, strain most of the liquid out)
  • 1/3 cup molasses (not pictured)
  • 1/3 cup organic ketchup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 pkg all natural hot dogs, cut into discs
  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Pour beans into a baking dish. Add molasses, ketchup, and brown sugar to taste. Add cut up hot dogs. Bake for 1 hour or until liquid has been reduced and thickened. Check at 45 minutes. The top should look a little dry and the beans not runny.ย

I love my beanie weenies with a side of cottage cheese. The two together make magic on my tongue. ๐Ÿ˜‹ Don’t knock it ’til you try it! LOL

Happy eating! ๐Ÿ˜Š
