This isn’t your grandmother’s Banana Pudding. This Decadent Nilla Wafer Banana Pudding is so over the top, you might just want to marry it. I must say, I had never ever liked banana pudding. I didn’t even like the way it smelled. I do love bananas though, and I love vanilla wafers. So what made me decide to develop a new recipe for this old-fashioned dessert? Nilla Wafers were on sale! It’s really hard for me to resist a good BOGO when I have 2 manufacturer and 2 store coupons to match. 🤓decadent-nilla-wafer-banana-pudding-culinary-craftinessI wondered if I’d like it with the instant banana pudding done up the way I do French vanilla in my Aunt Beth’s Truly Decadent Dirt Pudding. You won’t believe the difference a few ingredients make! I almost didn’t even get to take pictures of it after it had done it’s thing in the fridge. The guys found it first. 😃Decadent Nilla Wafer Banana Pudding | Culinary CraftinessThey made a mess of it, but I couldn’t blame them. I wanted to dive into the pan face first! 😋Decadent Nilla Wafer Banana Pudding | Culinary CraftinessDecadent Nilla Wafer Banana Pudding

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 stick butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 boxes instant banana pudding
3 1/2 cups milk
1 (8 oz.) whipped topping
1 box vanilla wafers
4 bananas, sliced 1/2” thick

Whisk together the milk and pudding. Refrigerate until chilled and thickened, an hour or two. While the pudding is chilling, let the cream cheese and butter soften in a bowl on the counter. Blend the softened cream cheese, sugar, and softened butter with a wire whisk until all the lumps are gone. If it’s too hard to whisk, microwave for 15-20 seconds, but don’t let it turn to liquid.

Combine the cream cheese mixture with the pudding until well combined. Fold in the softened whipped topping until blended.

Place a layer of Nilla Wafers on the bottom of a 9 x 13 dish or cake pan. Spread half the pudding over the cookies. Lay out the banana slices to cover the entire top of the pudding. Cover the bananas with the rest of pudding. Place another layer of Nilla Wafers over the entire surface of the second layer of pudding.

Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 6 hours or overnight. Serve and enjoy.
